Nayoung Kim

studied at the Department of Dance at Seoul Sejong University from 1983 to 1992 before continuing her dance education in Germany. She earned her master’s degree from the Folkwang University of the Arts between 1986 and 1990. From 1990 to 1992, she collaborated with choreographer Christina Horvath at the Kassel City Theater in Germany. Between 1992 and 1996, she was a dancer with the Folkwang Tanz Studio (FTS) under the artistic direction of Pina Bausch. Since then, she has performed as a dancer with the Pina Bausch Tanztheater Wuppertal, contributing to the creation of 24 of Pina Bausch’s works. After her death, Nayoung expanded her career to include roles as a costume designer, choreographer and teacher.
