is the first dancers in the company who is from Wuppertal. He was born in Elberfeld in 1986 and grew up with the music of Pina Bausch’s Tanztheater Wuppertal: The flat he lived in as a child with his mother and brother backed on to the Lichtburg, the ensemble’s rehearsal space in Barmen. He says: “As children we used to play on the Lichtburg’s roof.”
In 2011, he completed his Bachelor of Arts at the Folkwang University of the Arts and in 2013, he received his Master of Arts in Solo Dance from the same university. In 2010, he danced with the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch for the first time as a guest artist, performing in The Rite of Spring. He has been a permanent member of the ensemble since 2014, dancing in many of its productions. Since 2019 he has also been working as an assistant, among others for the Pina Bausch Foundation’s Sacre transmission project in Senegal, Wuppertal and Essen.
Çağdaş Ermiş has worked with renowned choreographers including Susanne Linke, Henrietta Horn, Johannes Wieland, David Hernandez, Malou Airaudo and Jérôme Bel.
