» First, we bring the entire Tanztheater to the Sonnborner Straße and then, a few days later, we invite the audience to the Schauspielhaus. In the evening, the stage of the Opera House becomes the actual main stage, the central dance space. Here we show Pina Bausch's Palermo Palermo. After the performance, Emmanuelle Huynh and I will dance the duet boléro 2 from trois boléros, which was choreographed by Odile Duboc, outside the Opera House. It is a very slow, rapturous duet to conclude our journey. «

With up to 200 professional and amateur dancers, performers from Wuppertal and the surrounding area, students from the Institute of Contemporary Dance at the Folkwang University of the Arts, the Centre for Contemporary Dance at the HfMT Köln, the Gesamtschule Langerfeld and the Berufskolleg Kohlstraße, as well as actors of the Wuppertaler Bühnen and members of the ensemble of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch
Three-hour dance marathon to organ music – ceremonious and fortissimo – countdown, running, movements of love and protest, everyday gestures, zombie dances, interwoven with Else Lasker-Schüler’s famous poem “My Dancing Song” (“Thus have I been dancing for a thousand years, Since my first eternities”),
… followed by dancing to a set by DJ Electric Indigo

The Pina Bausch Foundation invites you to a unique screening of Pina Bausch’s film AHNEN. Very simply shot, the film offers an insight into the rehearsal process as it follows Pina Bausch and the dancers as they work in the studio for the 1987 piece Ahnen.

Die Zuschauer*innen sind eingeladen, den Tag eines Tänzers, einer Tänzerin zu erleben, sie wärmen sich mit dem Ensemble auf, sie proben selbst einen Ausschnitt aus Palermo Palermo, sie essen mit dem Ensemble und ruhen sich aus bevor sie sich gemeinsam vom zukünftigen Pina Bausch Zentrum zur Oper bewegen, um die Aufführung von Palermo Palermo aus dem Jahr 1989 von Pina Bausch zu sehen.
Zum Abschluss tanzt Boris Charmatz mit Emmanuelle Huynh ein Duo zur Musik des Bolero von Ravel, 1996 kreiert von Odile Duboc. Draußen, unmittelbar vor der Friedrich-Engels Allee.
A Dancer’s Day wurde in dem ehemaligen Flughafen Tempelhof Hangar 5 in Berlin am 15., 16. und 17. September 2017 mit einem Programm rund um 10000 bestes von Boris Charmatz kreiert.
